How to Design a Quiz Game That Does Not Feel Like a Test: The Decision-Layer Playbook

A test asks one question: what do you know? A quiz game asks a better one: what will you do about it? The gap between the two is not the trivia. It is the decision layer, any rule that hands players a choice the question itself does not grade: how much to wager, whether to bank now or push on, which lifeline to burn, fast or sure, play on or walk away. Safe havens make thresholds real

The original UK ladder guaranteed £1,000 at question five and £32,000 at question ten, so the climb is not smooth. It has cliffs.
